Abstract
Exposure of plants of Spirodela oligorhiza to ultraviolet light results in a high percentage of abscission of daughter colonies. The levels of endogenous ABA and ethylene released in irradiated plants were similar to those of the non‐irradiated controls. Pre‐incubation on IAA very significantly reduced UV‐induced abscission in spite of causing a large release of ethylene.
