Abstract
Desalination of warm brackish water (35-40 degree C) with an improved electrodialysis unit having a capacity of 30-100 m**3/d was carried out at Mashabei-Sade and at Revivim, Israel. The brackish water at Mashabei-Sade was pretreated with a carboxylic cation exchange resin and at Revivim only by filtration and injection of acid. The energy required for desalination and pumping to reduce salinity from 2. 5-3. 0 g/l to 0. 8 g/l was 1. 0-1. 5 kWh/m**3.
