Abstract
This paper proposes suppressing of impulse noise based on its modeling as a random sequence of exponential pulses with random amplitudes and a priori known set of decays. The approach consists in the combination of the specially designed FIR and usual median filters. It turns to be rather computationally simple, substantially reduces the impact of impulse noise and makes possible processing signal segments of short duration.
