Abstract

The formation of Pancharatnam-Berry phase optical elements (PBOE) with space-variant subwavelength gratings was studied. A theoretical analysis and experimental demonstration of multilevel discrete PBOE was also discussed. It was found that by continuously controlling the local orientation and period of the grating, any desired phase element can be achieved.
