Abstract

This article reads Eshkol Nevo’s highly popular narrative fiction - comprising five novels and a collection of stories - as a vehicle of Ashkenazi hegemony in Israel. The article will track and analyze the ways in which Ashkenazi hegemony, through a series of subtle and not so subtle narratological moves, strives to maintain its dominance and superiority even in the face of a social paradigm shift from melting pot ideology to multiculturalism.
