    Abstract

Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba), a wild desert shrub, is known for its fruit which contains unique wax esters similar in nature to sperm‐whale oil (Yermanos and Duncan, 1976). In this work, the ability of the fruit to synthesize the wax esters has been studied from a very early stage to ripening.
