Abstract

The popularity and adoption of smartphones has fostered the rapid proliferation of mobile malware, especially on Android. According to Trend Micro predictions, the number of high-risk malicious applications for Android will reach two million in 2016 [1]. The open-market nature of Android applications and the lack of awareness of smartphone users to potential risks [2] make the Android operating system (OS) susceptible to malware attacks over the Internet.
