Abstract

Proton-gamma coincidence measurements in the reaction 17O(d, pγ)18O indicate that the 5.25 MeV level of 18O decays 59±6% to the 1.98 MeV level and 41±6% to the ground state. The 5.37 MeV level decays 88±3% to the 1.98 MeV level and 12±3% to the 3.92 MeV level. Upper limits are given for possible transitions to other levels. The gamma decay is consistent with the spins and parities 2+ and 3+ of the 5.25 and 5.37 MeV levels, respectively.
