Abstract

The dynamic stability of uniform homogeneous viscoelastic plates subjected to periodic in-plane loads is investigated. The viscoelastic behavior of the plate is given in terms of the Boltzmann super-position principle, allowing any linear viscoelastic character. The proposed method is based on the evaluation of the Lyapunov exponents, by which the stability or instability can be determined. The numerical procedure is straighforward and easy for computer implementation.
