Abstract

It is generally believed that grassland degradation on the global alpine area is caused by overgrazing; however, experimental evidence is lacking. In this chapter, the effects of grazing on grassland degradation are discussed, including (1) changes in grassland vegetation; (2) changes in grassland soil; and (3) indicators and modeling of grassland degradation.
