Abstract

We developed a non-grounded and non-attached method to represent virtual forces when using tools. As one of example applications of our method, we developed HapSticks that mimic grip force and weight sensation that happen when using chopsticks. Though large individual differences are confirmed in the representation ability of this device, HapSticks have a potential to be applied to various applications, such as, training and user interface.
