Abstract
This paper treats the effect upont the magnitude of the direct current of a strong high frequency voltage modulation, applied at the diffusion-migrational limiting current in a single strong electrolyte solution. It is shown theoretically that due to formation of an extended space charge near the interface, the above modulation should, in a certain frequency range, yield an increase of the direct current component above the limiting value. The calculation is based upon a numerical solution of the unsteady Nerst-Planck-Poisson equations. Parallel experimental results are reported on the effect of voltage modulation upon the limiting current of Cu plus plus reduction on a copper cathode from aqueous CuSO//4 solution.
