Abstract

A novel compact ultrafast tunable fiber-loop laser is proposed, with wavelength tuning speeds of a few nanoseconds. The laser implementation is based on currently available technologies. With the use of compound configurations, the laser tuning range can be extended to over 50 nm, and a sidemode rejection ratio of over 50 dB can be achieved.
