Abstract

Recent discovery of piezoelectricity, pyroelectricity, and ferroelectricity in hydroxyapatite (HA) has changed a decade-long view on its crystal structure. In this chapter, we discuss these new properties of HA. We also outline how these properties may lead to future investigations in medicinal and energy applications of HA.
