Abstract

A convenient synthesis of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3, the natural calcium regulating hormone, based on a regioselective C25-hydroxylation of 1α,3β-diacetoxy-6β,7α-dibromocholestane by means of ozone absorbed on silica gel, is reported.
