Abstract
The effects of sodium nitroprusside hypotensive anesthesia (HA) on operative and postoperative blood loss and on operating time were studied in 83 patients undergoing posterior spine fusion for scoliosis. The results were compared with 28 patients undergoing the same operative procedure under a normotensive anesthesia (NA). Both groups were similar with respect to diagnosis, magnitude of the spinal deformity age, and length of the fusion area.
