Il Pulpito Toscano Tra '300 e '500

Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

The work currently represents the only text on the market dedicated to the Tuscan pulpits of the 14th-16th centuries, made or designed by prestigious artists such as Guglielmo, Nicola and Giovanni Pisano, Filippo Brunelleschi, Michelozzo, Donatello, Antonio and Bernardo Rossellino, Benedetto da Maiano and Benvenuto Cellini, who mark the transition from medieval art to the new forms of the Renaissance; their commission, location, function and iconography are thoroughly examined. This book, however, is much more than a simple art history text, because, in its pages, it reconstructs the climate of the Florence of Humanism, marked by the irresistible rise of the Medici family, by the flourishing of the arts, by the fervor of a new religious feeling.
