Abstract

In view of the determinative role of the MHC system in controlling and restricting the function of immune effector cells against modified self components, one could assume that modulation of the expression of MHC-encoded antigens on tumor cells creates different communications with the host's immune system and thus influences the interclonal relationships within a tumor population, provided the antitumor response is H-2 restricted. In this study, we report differences in the membrane expression of H-2 parental haplotypes between a local methylcholanthrene-induced tumor (T10) and its descendant pulmonary metastases.
