Abstract

Auxin, which mimics natural pollination in tomato flowers, induces fruit setting as well as a 3‐fold increase in ornithine decarboxylase activity. In pollinated ovaries ornithine decarboxylase activity increased 4.7 fold. The possible connection between pollination, auxin treatment, fruit set, cell division and ornithine decarboxylase activity are discussed.
