Abstract
This paper examines a number of indicators constituting the construct of 'perceived community cohesion'. These include; a sense of belonging, perceived social support, solidarity, rootedness, social ties, and alienation. A sample of residents in three different communities according to their socioeconomic structure was administered questionnaires. Results indicate that a sense of belonging, solidarity, rootedness, and social ties were higher amongst residents of rural communities (kibbutz and village) than amongst residents in an urban centre.
