Abstract

1. Orientating the (Cr, Fe)7C3 carbides with respect to the working surface, has a significant influence on the wear resistance of white irons. 2. The wear resistance of 300Kh20DNF iron rings for use as end seals in the drive systems of industrial tractors, is about a factor of three greater when the (Cr, Fe)7C3 carbides were distributed along the c-axis perpendicular to the working surface, as compared to the parallel distribution. The wear resistance was increased by a factor of one and a half relative to a nonorientated carbide distribution.
