Abstract

EQUATIONS ARE PROPOSED TO ENABLE THE CALCULATION OF THE AMOUNT OF WEAR DURING RUNNING-IN OF A FRICTIONAL PAIR.THE GEOMETRICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SURFACE PROFILE AND THE ROUGHNESS OF THE WORN SURFACE MUST BE KNOWN.THE AMOUNT OF WEAR DIMINISHES WITH A REDUCTION IN THE HEIGHT OF THE IRREGULARITIES OF THE INITIAL SURFACE AND WITH AN INCREASE IN THE HEIGHT OF THE IRREGULARITIES OF THE RUN-IN SURFACE.(J.B.).
