Abstract
The study aims to help improve health in Colombia through a national scheme of performance indicators of the health sector. A descriptive analysis is presented of secondary data from Colombia and Israel, which, like Colombia, has a model, based on regulated competition. Israel has a simple yet effective scheme that consists of, pre-defined and nationally accepted quality and performance indicators, with a monitoring mechanism, and a comparative study process to establish good practices, as well as a means of and a disseminating these practices. The Israeli scheme can be easily adapted to Colombia because of the structural similarity of the systems and the straightforward nature of the scheme.
