Abstract

Triornithine inhibited the development of new T4D phages within the bacteria. The plaque‐forming capability of free phages was not affected. Triornithine inhibits the synthesis of early, as well as late protein in T4‐infected Escherichia coli B cells. Triornithine was found to enhance [3H]uridine incorporation into viral mRNA. [3H] Thymidine incorporation into T4 DNA was not affected by the tripeptide when added after the time interval during which all of the enzymes concerned with viral DNA synthesis have already been formed.
