Abstract

An isolate of Trichoderma harzianum secretes substances into the growth medium which inhibit the growth of microorganisms. Three of these substances were isolated and one was identified as 3-(2-hydroxypropyl)-4-(2-hexadienyl)-2(5H)-furanone, a new natural product.
