Abstract
An analysis is made of the influence of transverse heating of carriers by a static electric field on the propagation and instability of helicon waves in a semiconductor plasma. Carrier heating, together with the application of a static magnetic field, makes the plasma anisotropic and influences the polarization of magnetoplasma waves. It is shown that in a negative differential conductance region the heating of carriers may result in spatial amplification of elliptically polarized helicons.
