Interaction of titanium carbonitrides with iron and nickel

Phase equilibria were analyzed for the Me-Ti-C-N systems (M = Fe or Ni) in the region of the liquid metal phase. Isothermal sections were constructed for different C concentrations in the melt. When a carbonitride reacts with a metal, its composition changes towards Ti enrichment. For Ti carbonitride-Fe and Ti carbonitride-Ni composites, the sintering conditions required for the production of pore-free ingots were determined. The calculated results are in good agreement with experimental results on composite sintering.
