Abstract

The authors have developed a generalized, interactive report generator for clinical oncological research. The computer programs are written in FORTRAN IV and are designed for the use of medical and paramedical workers with no programming experience. The system provides for the creation of special forms for each study. Once patient data has been entered, reports may be produced containing items such as listings of patients, tabulations of variables, means and median of specified quantities, and mathematical calculations. Cross tabulations can be performed, and actuarial survival and disease-free interval curves can be defined interactively. A statistical package is included. An example is given of a clinical study for the evaluation of treatment of cervical cancer by combined intracavitary and external beam radiation.
