Internal ophthalmoplegia following inferior oblique muscle recession

    Abstract

    A case of internal ophthalmoplegia after inferior oblique muscle recession is reported. Injury to the parasympathetic fibers as they course anteriorly is the probable cause of internal ophthalmoplegia in our case. To our knowledge, this complication has not been reported previously.
