Intra- and intermolecular metallotropic rearrangements in triethyl(acetylacetonato)germane

Abstract

1. It was established via NMR that triethyl(acetylacetonato)germane is a mixture of the cis- and trans-isomers of triethylgennoxy-2-penten-4-one. The cis-isomer undergoes intramolecular 1,5-rearrangement. 2. cis-trans Transitions were detected in the undiluted triethylgermoxy-2-penten-4-one, which are caused by intermolecular rearrangements via coordination of the germanium atom with the carbonyl group of the adjacent molecule.
