Abstract

There are currently few book-length studies of joy or happiness in Judaism or scholarly essays on joy in the thought of specific Jewish thinkers. Judaism as an Ode to Joy: Happiness in the Thought of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks and Beyond aspires to provide the reader with a sense of the range of Jewish views on joy as they relate to the thought of Rabbi Sacks and beyond, through insightful chapters spanning a broad array of genres, including biblical, rabbinic, and kabbalistic literature, Jewish history, philosophy, psychology, and education.
