Abstract

A study of microelectrochemical heterogeneity of armco iron revealed the existence of effective corrosion microcouples associated with differences in the orientation of crystal faces in the plane of a microsection. The existence of strain-induced microelectrochemical heterogeneity with the slip bands of plastically deformed metal was, for the first time, established by direct measurements. The problem of microelectrochemical heterogeneity of metals was formulated and the optimum conditions for revealing it were established.
