Abstract
An analytical method is developed, which enables die use of dependencies of die gain and temperature in the resonator of the supersonic chemical oxygen-iodine laser (COIL) on the iodine flow rate, for calculation of the iodine dissociation fraction F and the number N of O2(1Δ) molecules lost in the region of iodine dissociation per I2 molecule. The method is applied to supersonic COILs with transonic injection of iodine and different types of supersonic nozzles. It is found that F is a nonmonotonous function of the iodine flow rate. The maximum value of F is 0.55 for our grid nozzle and 0.94 for our slit nozzle.
