Abstract

Action of acids on TTFs affords cation radicals or/and protonated species, depending on conditions and substituents. The reaction of TTF derivatives with acids has been monitored using UV-Vis and nmr spectroscopy. Stoichiometric cation-radical salts have been synthesized by preparative oxidation of TTFs using phenyliodoso diacetate and an acid for comparison. A general scheme for the interaction of TTFs with acids is suggested.
