Abstract
The glow curve structure of LiF:Mg,Ti (TLD-100) has been investigated following irradiation by low energy alpha particles and 4He ions following both air and N2 annealing. T(m)-T(stop) analysis was carried out following 60Co gamma volumetric, low ionisation density, irradiation (annealing in air) as well as low energy alpha particle irradiation (annealing in air) and 4He irradiation (annealing in dry N2). A comparison of the T(m)-T(stop) measurements established the presence of several additional glow peaks (both low temperature and high temperature) in the alpha and 4He induced glow curves. The presence of the additional peaks following both air and N2 annealing atmospheres implies that their creation is most likely due to ionisation density effects in the highly dosed core of the heavy charged particle track.
