Abstract

The justification of implementing PAPR reduction schemes in OFDM is discussed. Decreasing PAPR increases the efficiency of the linear power amplifier, yielding an increase in average power emitted and consequentially an increase in capacity. However, implementing a PAPR reduction scheme s such as Tone Reservation or Selective Mapping means a decrease in the payload bandwidth which causes a decrease in capacity. In this work capacity is analyzed to evaluate the efficiency of these PAPR reduction techniques.
