Abstract
A study is made of the propagation of flexural-gravity waves in an ice cover floating on the surface of a liquid of finite depth, these waves being caused by the movement of a flat pressure front over the ice. A numerical calculation is made of the normal stress on the surface of the ice cover for various ice thicknesses, water depths and rates of motion of the load.
