Kalb-Ramond-invariant locally non-trivial V-term (P/CP-violating superconductivity in four dimensions)

Abstract

We discuss spontaneously broken gauge invariance of the third kind (Kalb-Ramond tensor gauge field). The photon, carrying axion charge Q, spontaneously acquires a Higgs-free mass M=√2Q. The contact with the London theory is established (exclusively in 3+1 dimensions) by means of a generalized, locally non-trivial, V-term. VQ (Q) plays the Witten (Bogomolny) role of the electric (magnetic) charge, VQ2/M2 parametrizes P/CP violation, and M2=2(1+V2)Q2. The third-kind gauge invariant P/CP-violating interaction of extended objects is briefly discussed.
