Abstract
THE RESULTS OF STUDIES OF THE DISLOCATION STRUCTURE OF COPPER DURING SLIDING FRICTION AFTER VARIOUS TEST PERIODS ARE PRESENTED. THE STUDIES WERE CARRIED OUT BY THE METHODS OF DIFFRACTION ELECTRON MICROSCOPY AND X-RAY STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS. ASEQUENCE OF STRUCTURAL CHANGES AS A FUNCTION OF THE TEST DURATION IS SHOWN WHICH CONSISTS IN AN INCREASE IN THE DISLOCATION DENSITY, THE FORMATION OF DISLOCATION CLUSTERS, AND THEFORMATION OF A FRAGMENTED STRUCTURE. IT IS ESTABLISHED THATTHE MAIN CHANGES IN THE STRUCTURE OCCUR DURING THE RUNNING-IN PERIOD. DURING FURTHER TESTS THE STRUCTURE REMAINS IN EQUILIBRIUM. THIS PATTERN CAN BE USED TO DETERMINE THE RUNNING-IN PERIOD UNDER CONSTANT FRICTION CONDITIONS. IN RUSSIAN.
