Abstract
Mesenteric cystic lymphangioma is a rare benign disease of the lymphatic system. The purpose of this case report is to demonstrate the potential of laparoscopy in treatment of this condition. The study describes the clinical case of laparoscopic treatment of patient with mesenteric lymphangioma of small intestine. A multicystic tumor was located 10 cm from the ileocecal angle. During laparoscopy, the morphological type of the cystic tumor was assessed, its connection with the mesenteric vessels feeding the intestinal segment, and a successful attempt was made to completely laparoscopic resection and anastomosis of the small intestine together with the mesentery containing multiple cysts. In the final part of the scientific work, the early and long-term results of the operation were investigated. The duration of the operation was 90 minutes. The postoperative period was uneventful. Start of enteral feeding occurred on the 4th day after surgery. A complete enteral diet became possible on the 7th day. The newborn was discharged from the hospital on the 9th postoperative day. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of mesenteric lymphangioma. When observed for 12 months, no complications associated with the surgical procedure were found. Signs of relapse were also not recorded. The description of the case of a completely laparoscopic resection and anastomosis of the small intestine in a newborn with mesenteric lymphangioma expands the scope of laparoscopy in pediatric practice.
