Abstract

Time-resolved spectra of N2 B → A emission, obtained by laser pumping of N2(A), have been studied. Multiple exponential decay of N2(B, v = 1-9) in Ar and N2 was observed and the quenching rate constants measured. Evidence is presented for collisional coupling between vibiational levels of N2(B) and those of N2 (W) and N2(A).
