Abstract

A laser system based on (Cr4+,Mg2+): Y A G was designed and successfully operated over the spectral range 1.4-1.5 μm, with a peak energy at 1.45 μm (20.7 mJ). (Cr4+Mg2+)YAG can also be operated as a passive Q-switch of 1.08 μm laser radiation. Results of Q switching of flashlamp pumped Nd:YAP systems will be presented and analyzed as well.
