Abstract

Layout errors are caused by the necessity in a number of cases to simplify machine kinematics or the form of the cutting tool, or to apply an approximate setup of the machine tool, even though this results in systematic deviations of the machined surface form from the nominal form. The general-purpose method for synthesis and solution of the system of non-linear equations for calculation of these layout errors is proposed. An effective numerical procedure is achieved by making reference to the coordinates of the nominal surfaces as a trial solution for the Newton-Raphson method. The accuracy of the tooth profile for a specific setup of the gear grinding machine is calculated and experimentally tested.
