Abstract

Discusses the causes of several Jewish insurrections against the Roman Empire which occurred between 115-177 in Libya, Egypt, Cyprus, Mesopotamia, and Judea. Based on the views of M. Hengel and V.A. Tcherikover, states that after the destruction of the Second Temple in the year 70, the political, economic, and social situation of the Jews in the Roman Empire deteriorated progressively. Relates discriminatory acts against the Jews by the Roman rulers. Presents information on the uprisings and their consequences.
