Abstract

An approach is developed for the selection of the least cost acceptance sampling plan for cases in which the strength of material or the length of life is controlled and which requires destructive testing. The total cost, consisting of the cost of sampling and testing as well as the cost of the destructed units in the sample is considered and compared for variable sampling plans and for the whole spectrum of possible equivalent compressed and ″blown-up″ limit gauging sampling plans.
