Abstract

Many researchers and critics have employed the notion of “lyrical prose” in order to describe Appelfeld’s style, yet nobody so far attempted to critically examine this description. In my intervention, I shall attempt to re-examine the notion of “lyrical prose” by relating it to different levels in Appelfeld’s prose as well as to his general poetics and worldview.
