Abstract

Proton and helium ion induced nuclear reactions, with energies lower than the uranium-fission Coulomb barrier, are proposed for the activation analysis of impurities in uranium. The reaction products were identified by gamma spectroscopy using a Ge(Li) cetector. Detection sensitivities were studied for 15 elements using 3 different proton- and 4 different helium-beam energies.
