Abstract

An experimental and a clinical study were performed in order to investigate the liver changes and immunological disturbances that follow a burn injury. The possibility of an autoimmune reaction, initiated by autoantigens or mitogens released from the burn eschar, is discussed, in relation to the results of the clinical and experimental study.
