Abstract
Traditional knowledge is important for alpine grassland protection and restoration; however, the incorporation of traditional knowledge in grassland management has not received much attention globally. This chapter discusses the use of herders’ traditional knowledge in: (1) restoring degraded grassland; (2) maintaining biodiversity by protecting plants and animals; and (3) developing restoration strategies, especially for livestock herders.
