Loi rationnelle, loi naturelle et loi de la Thora dans le Kuzari

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

The debate concerning R. Halevi’s opinion on Morality begins with an important article on this subject by Leo Strauss. In this article, I try to show,
against the position of Strauss, that R. Halevi thought that the Law of the
Torah has two parts. The first one corresponds to rational law and does not
differ than the rational law of the other nations. The aim of his law is only
politic. The second is only Jewish and his aim is to build a relation to the divine. R. Halevi gave some empiric proof for the need on the second kind of
Law. According to his explanation Jewish Law is the best (philosophically
and rationally) explanation to supernatural event that are empirically proved.
